UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD’S SIGNALS

Every child sends signals.

Children may sometimes:

  • rush

  • freeze

  • avoid challenges

  • give up quickly

  • appear confident — but struggle inside

  • be highly skilled — but struggle with humility or teamwork

These are not weaknesses.
They are signals.

MANY PARENTS QUIETLY NOTICE MOMENTS LIKE THESE

  • “My child loses confidence easily.”

  • “My child gets upset when corrected.”

  • “My child gives up when things get hard.”

  • “My child is confident — but doesn’t always listen.”

These behaviours are not just habits.

Often they are signals of what the child may be feeling inside — uncertainty, fear, pressure, or a need to feel safe.

When we begin to understand these signals, we can guide children more calmly and effectively.

At FTP Sports, we observe carefully.
We see beyond behaviour.

We recognise the child’s signals, and what they may be going through inside.

As a parent too, Coach Jerry believes that every child first needs to feel safe.

When a child feels safe, they begin to open up.

From there, we guide the mind, develop movement, and strengthen the heart — especially after mistakes.

Through this process, children learn to:

  • stay calm under pressure

  • accept correction

  • adapt and work within a team

  • recover from mistakes

  • build resilience and humility

Guidance in the right moment makes the difference.

We share a simple child insight every Sunday to help parents understand their child a little deeper.

HOW WE GUIDE YOUR CHILD’S JOURNEY

At FTP Sports, we guide children through three steps:

  • We guide the mind

  • We develop movement

  • We strengthen the heart after mistakes

This follows the Mind → Motion → Heart approach.
